Sony E3 2013 Conference - Coverage

Sony got to a late start with their conference but it was more than worth the wait. Aside from a few technical hiccups *cough*Assasin's Creed*cough* their show was near perfect. They got the ball rolling with a trailer showcase for all of their upcoming PS3 titles to be released before the years end. Including The Last of Us, Rain, Puppeteer, Beyond Two Souls and Gran Turismo 6! Lots to play before we even get to the next generation of consoles.

They also touched on the Vita very briefly announcing that The Walking Dead is getting a special bundle on the vita along with the new '400 Days' DLC as well as other additional content.
Finally we get to see the console, and it looks great! The console is shaped like a three-dimensional parallelogram. Take a look at it now.

Also announced was that Sony Pictures Entertainment will work on creating original content as well as curating existing media for PS3 and PS4 owners in the coming months and years.

Next up was a look at a new PS4 game from Ready at Dawn Studios, 'The Order: 1886'. The game is era confused as it takes place in what appears to be Victorian London but their are blimps, communication devices, sci-fi weapons and monsters! The trailer was all in engine and it looks impressive. I am super pumped for this new game!

Then they showed off some of the titles they announced back in February such as inFamous: Second Son, Drive Club, Knack and Killzone Shadow Fall. The new footage looked tasty!
Quantic Dream then showed off their new tech demo called 'The Dark Sorcerer' which looked unreal and was a bit humorous.
Aside from the big titles at the conference this indie title Transistor caught my eye the most. It is from the creators of Bastion and it has top-down and side scrolling elements and the visual style you would expect from Supergiant Games. Several other promising indie titles were also on stage such as Octodad and Oddworld.
Now here is where things got interesting, Tetsuya Nomura from Square Enix did a video presentation for Final Fantasy XIII Versus. First time footage of the game has been seen in public in over two years. But the real kicker was as the trailer ended the logo for the game shattered and then appeared the games new title. Final Fantasy 15! And it doesn't end there, Nomura reappears on-screen to share one more final tease, a Kingdom Hearts III production announcement video! This is perhaps the most exciting thing I have heard so far today!
Then we got to take a look at some live demos from Ubisoft featuring Assasin's Creed IV and Watch Dogs. I was particularly impressed by the Watch Dogs demo, the game continues to surprise and fascinate me.

Perhaps the most awkward moment of the show was when they showed a trailer for a new Mad Max game. You could literally hear the crickets chirping in the background. But who knows, the game could be good.

The next part of the show was where Jack Tretton came out and essentially proceeded to troll Microsoft for ten minutes about all of their anti-sharing and ownership rights issues that the Xbox One is having. It was a good time to be had by all.

PS Plus will also carry over to PS4 and Drive Club will be a free download on day one. PS Plus will also be required for all multiplayer online play from here on out with PS4.
A lengthy live Demo with Bungie's Destiny was then showed off for PS4 the games looked fun but nothing special until the end when it showed one of it's 'Public Events' where players zone into each others game in order to take on a special boss fight encounter.
Last but certainly not least, the price point for the PlayStation 4. $399 US dollars, that is one hundred dollars less than the Xbox One. This holiday season is going to be interesting!
